Summary: Directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Controller is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position includes supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluate and oversee Finance Department personnel, recommend training, and ensure staff proficiency.

Maintain accurate accounting systems, records of company transactions and related assets.

Exercise discretion and independent judgment in decisions impacting business operations or finances.

Oversee internal and external financial audits, to include interdepartmental collaboration for information acquisition and review

Prepare the NYS Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR) annually and make periodic revisions as required, in conjunction with the Director of Finance

Analyze financial data to assess profitability, budget performance, and operational effectiveness.

Prepare, update and optimize internal/external financial reports.

Collaborate with the Director of Finance on financial strategies, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.

Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local tax-related regulations at all levels.

Implement and monitor financial controls for the organization to ensure optimal effectiveness.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises all of the Financial Program’s employees, including Accountant(s), Payroll Administrator, and Accounts Payable and Receivable staff.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:

Qualifications & Responsibilities
Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major

Working experience and proficiency with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll processing/management is required

Experience supervising and managing a team
-
Full understanding of GAAP

Hands-on experience working with auditors and their requests

CPA is preferred but not required
-
Strong computer proficiency, to include particularly Excel and other finance ERP software (Sage Intacct, etc)

Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
