What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Events position at Blue Federal Credit Union?

Our Events Director is a visionary and responsible for building strong community relationship that will drive unique opportunities to the campus while promoting the Blue Headquarters facilities. Leads the planning and execution of larger scale events for the credit union and/or community and delegates tasks to appropriate team members. Keeps the Campus event center fully committed year-round with appropriate events. Develops, implements and evaluates Blue’s strategy of special event planning and continuously makes adjustment to increase the quality of events. Assigns managers and coordinators to plan and execute specific events and supervises the progress to ensure events are executed according to plan. Schedules event in coordination with the credit union’s event calendar and annual event budget. Negotiates terms and fees with vendors, speakers and entertainers in accordance with budget, policies and procedures. Adheres to Brand standards and utilizes every event execution as an opportunity to enhance Blue. In addition, the Events Director will hire and train support for the weekend and evening events.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Hire, train, and supervise a team of event coordinators, support staff, and volunteers by providing clear direction, motivation, and support to ensure smooth event operations for evenings and weekends, including social gatherings, corporate meetings, workshops, and community programs. Works closely with internal teams, sponsors, and community partners to align event goals and expectations while acting as the main point of contact for clients and attendees, addressing their needs and feedback.
- Establishes a strong community outreach while innovating with community leaders to create events and unique opportunities for the headquarters campus. Leads the planning and execution of larger scale events for the credit union/community and delegates tasks to the appropriate team member.
- Establishes special events goals on a team and individual basis.
- Collaborates with Marketing and Advertising teams to ensure that events receive appropriate promotion based on size and desired attendees.
- Builds partnerships with the on-campus retail groups to create synergy and growth opportunities.
- Ensures that events do not exceed budget by considering the individual and annual event budget.
- May guide tours of event space to prospective renters and vendors.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
Five years to eight years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience in customer service, retail, event planning, or a related field.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Meeting, and Event Planning OR at least 15 years of event experience.
Interpersonal Skills
The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.
FULL TIME POSITION
Starting Range: $69,693.74 - $77,893.01
Full Range: $65,594.11 - $98,391.17

Physical Requirements
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and lifting of up to 25 lbs. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time during events. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be able to work a variety of hours in order to accommodate events.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work both indoors as well as outdoors. Ability to work with vendors, staff, renters and event attendees under stressful and fast paced situations.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
