JOB DESCRIPTION: CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT
Policy
The Certified Nursing Assistant is a worker qualified to provide delegated nursing task, companionship, assistant with personal hygiene, minor housekeeping (not to exceed 20% of the assignment hours) and other related supportive task to the client with health care needs that are necessary for the client to remain safely in his/her home under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Qualifications/Requirements
All Clinical Staff must provide documentation of the following:
- Medical Exam verifying that they are free from infectious diseases and are physically able to perform job functions
- The vaccination with Hepatitis B vaccine, or declination of Hepatitis B vaccination statement. If a declination is desired, the person requesting not to be vaccinated must sign a Hepatitis B Vaccination Declination
- An Annual TB Screening for negative results. If there is a history of positive PPD, a chest x-ray stating that the person is free from disease is required
- Able to lift and bend
- Have a face to face or virtual interview with Bluefox Healthcare LLC representative
- Provide at least two professional references
- CNA must have successfully completed the classroom component of an approved State Certified Training Program which includes demonstration of competence in basic skills
- A current license from the state board of nursing (must be reviewed annually)
- Able to adequately demonstrate skill review
- One-year Certified Nursing Assistant Experience Preferred
- Able to meet the physical requirement of the position
- Current CPR and First-Aid Certificate
- Complete and pass a criminal background check conducted by Bluefox Healthcare LLC representative or subcontractor
- Complete a Skill Checklist and demonstrate competency that is observed, documented, and verified by signature of RN Supervisor or RN Designee
- A CNA interested in working as a Supportive Home Care Aides (SHCA) performs personal care and/or homemaking services in accordance with respective States’ rules, in addition to providing emotional support, socialization, and escort services to consumers with Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia or emotional and/or behavioral problems.
- SHCA will receive a minimum of 12-hours per year on-going in-service education and on-the-job training provided by supervisors and other professionals
Responsibilities
- Assist and bathe the client as indicated
- Provide range of motion exercise as required
- Give oral hygiene/denture care
- Provide perinea care to clients
- Shave/Shampoo and Nail care as necessary
- Assist with all other Activities of Daily Living
- Assist client to ambulate as needed
- Safely utilize the equipment found in the home (must have had proper training on the safe use of the equipment)
- Assess vital signs and document as required
- Document in client’s chart on designated form as required
- Use good body mechanics to protect self and client from injury
- Provide and assure the carrying out of established nursing procedures and assuring the maintenance of a safe, clean environment. Provides holistic, age appropriate total patient care demonstrating the ability to assess situation needs and problems and reporting any change in condition to the RN Supervisor timely.
