BOOST is helping one of their teaming parties hire a proven Staff Accountant to join their team. Our client is a dynamic and innovative management and information technology consultancy with a relentless commitment to delivering value and driving the entrepreneurial spirit.

You will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger including processing journal entries throughout the month and as part of the month end close proces as well as accounts receivable, accounts payable, semi-monthly payroll processing, and other tasks as assigned. This is a full-time, hybrid position requireing 1-2 days on-site in McLean, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries in the accounting system and maintain account reconciliations as part of the month and year end close
  • Review corporate credit card transactions, initiate payments, and prepare monthly reconciliations
  • Process banking transactions that adhere to corporate policies and manage the monthly bank reconciliations
  • Maintain prepaid, accruals, and fixed asset ledgers and the corporate operational expense tracker
  • Investigate and resolve audit findings, accounting discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance
  • Create invoices and process journal entries in the accounting system related to the posting of invoices against the project; process payments received from the client
  • Process payments to vendors, subcontractors, and other consultants and create related journal entries in the accounting system
  • Process semi-monthly payroll through the payroll system; work with Human Resources on any changes that affect payroll processing for the period
  • Assist with corporate tax planning and preparation, financial statement review, and other external and government audit engagements
  • Assist with completion of annual business license tax, 1099 forms, property tax forms and other state and local tax requirements as necessary
  • Assist with compiling financial information for monthly and quarterly submissions to external bankers and government agencies
  • Assist with corporate insurance policies
  • Assist with accounting procedure and policy improvements

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements 

  • 3 years of progressive accounting experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics

  • 5 years of additional experience may substitute a bachelor’s degree if that experience is relevant to the roles and responsibilities of the position

  • Must understand and be able to apply DCAA accounting and compliance standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Must understand FAR cost principles

  • Familiarity with various government invoicing and reporting portals (primarily IPP and SAM)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)

Personal Requirements 

  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize effectively

  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks

  • Extremely strong attention to detail; process and deadline oriented

  • Effective communication and presentation skills

Work Authorization Requirements 

  • US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification and/or MBA is a plus.

  • Experience with Unanet is highly desirable.

  • Experience with Payroll Network and iSolved is highly desirable.

  • Experience working for a small to mid-sized federal contractor is highly desirable.
