Job Summary:
The Assistant Bookkeeper will provide critical support to the bookkeeping department, assisting with various financial tasks across our diverse portfolio of properties. This position is ideal for a highly organized and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for numbers and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Verify and code invoices accurately in accordance with company policies.
- Reconcile bank statements and property accounts monthly.
- Help prepare financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.
- Support property managers in expense allocation and tenant account management.
- Assist with vendor communication, including resolving invoice or payment discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the accounting system.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Provide administrative support to the bookkeeping team as needed.
- Collaborate with team members on special projects and audits.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Experience: experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with accounting software (experience with Appfolio, Peachtree, Sage, Sitelink is an advantage).
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
