Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree – Master’s Preferred
- NATA Board of Certification
- Two (2) years of work experience in Athletic Training
- Demonstrated computer skills, organizational skills, time management skills
- Work evening and / or weekends as needed
- A valid driver’s license required
Job Concepts
This position is responsible for comprehensive level of care for student athletes including prevention, management, injury assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, illnesses, and medical conditions.
Examples of Work
- Maintain medical records of student athletes to include physical examinations, medical history, insurance information, emergency contacts and injury evaluation reports.
- Create and maintain an electronic documentation database of assessment and treatment of student athletes.
- Monitor weather safety conditions and communicate with coaches, as needed.
- Provide individual treatment utilizing therapeutic modalities to include, but not limited to hot packs, cold packs, electric stimulation (TENS/NMES), therapeutic ultrasound.
- Provide student athletes with pre/post practice and game treatment to include taping, stretching, hot packs, ice, etc.
- Assess and communicate progress of student athletes to physicians, therapists, and coaches.
- Create and implement sport specific athletic injury and illness prevention programs.
- Maintain accurate athletic injury records and assist in the coordination of reports following NATA, HIPPA, FERPA and NJCAA guidelines.
- Liaison between Athletic Department and hospital physicians.
- Assist the Director of Athletics in submitting NJCAA Medical Hardship requests, as needed.
- Liaison between Athletic Department and student athlete insurance provider; file new claims, submit accurate documentation and manage claim status.
- Manage Athletic Training equipment and supplies inventory.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of Athletic Training room as well as medical treatment schedules.
- Maintain NATA Board of Certification, Louisiana State Athletic Training License and CPR/AED Certifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
- Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
- Must be capable of sitting in a stationary position for 50% or more of work day.
