JOB SUMMARY
The microbiologist intern plays a vital role in supporting both quantitative and qualitative analyses of pharmaceutical environments, adhering to FDA, ISO, and cGMP standards, as well as Boston Analytical's standard operating procedures. Responsibilities include sampling pharmaceutical environments in compliance with ISO standards and client-specific test protocols, performing routine laboratory tasks, and assisting laboratory personnel while maintaining strict adherence to FDA, cGMP guidelines and Boston Analytical procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Laboratory Maintenance:
o Clean and maintain laboratory equipment, including sterilization.
o Ship laboratory equipment and samples as needed.
o Perform weekly inventory and restock lab with reagents and materials.
Safety and Compliance:
o Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA and Boston Analytical procedures.
o Follow all safety rules, cGMP regulations, and company/client methodologies.
o Ensure strict adherence to cGMP, ISO, and Pharmacopeial standards.
Microbiology Testing:
o Perform basic microbiology tests, including growth promotion for purchased media batches.
o Process samples for assays such as TOC, Bioburden, and Coliform.
Environmental Monitoring:
o Collect environmental monitoring samples onsite and at client manufacturing sites.
Documentation and Reporting:
o Document test results and analyses clearly and accurately, following GDP standards.
o Maintain organized records of all work performed.
General Responsibilities:
o Work under close supervision to ensure compliance with SOPs, cGMP, and FDA regulations.
o Adhere to all company, client, and regulatory requirements.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled at an accredited university pursuing a BA or BS degree in Microbiology or related science discipline.
