What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Service Representative position at Bowen Health?
The Patient Services Representative provides customer service support to both internal and external customers. Duties include working directly with patients to assist with the admission and services process, review insurance eligibility and financial responsibilities and schedule appointments. This position will have cash handling responsibilities and will also assist clinical staff with their schedules and complete other tasks that contribute to the day to day functions of the department.
- Greet, educate and instruct patients through admission and services process
- Verify patient information and check in patients for scheduled appointments
- Notify patient of insurance benefits and financial responsibilities
- Answer telephone and direct calls appropriately
- Schedule patient appointments
- Manage clinical schedules and assist clinical staff as needed
- Monitor account balances, payment plans, and collection reports
- Cross-train with county client services staff and help cover county offices when requested
- Preform cash handling responsibilities and daily reconciliation of cash drawer
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Certificate or Professional License: No certificates or professional license required
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year in an office capacity preferred; customer service experience in a healthcare setting desired
- Valid driver’s license and active liability insurance
- Satisfactory results from criminal background check
