Bowhead is Hiring a Mathematician Near Crane, IN

Overview

MATHEMATICIAN (EODT 2024-20684):

Bowhead seeks a Mathematician to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane Division (NSWC-Crane). The Mathematician will provide support for current Electro-Optic Infrared (EO/IR) projects and assist in managing Innovation efforts across Crane. The Mathematician must have extreme attention to detail and organization skills and be able to work with formulas and data to help solve problems in industry, academia and government.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

  • Use high-level mathematics and technology to develop new mathematical principles, understand relationships between existing principles, and solve real-world problems.
  • Use theories and techniques, such as mathematical modeling, to solve practical problems.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualified candidates must have:

A balanced skill set that includes relevant experience, operational conversancy, business/programmatic skills, system knowledge, and the ability to quickly and efficiently achieve mission objectives.

Prior experience with management and oversight of all activities performed by contractor personnel and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required with at least fifteen (15) years of experience in demand forecasting, risk management, developing statistical models and simulations, data mining to identify and complete trend analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Experience with the AMSAA Reliability Growth Assessment Process or similar reliability models. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent professional certification in statistics is desired.
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand, sit and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
