POSITION TITLE: Special Education Teacher
JOB: The Special Education Teacher will be a certified special educator who oversees the special education processes and verifies that IEP services are implemented in compliance with federal, state and district regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS: NH Certification in General Special Education, knowledge of Special Education regulations and timelines, experience as a classroom and/or special education teacher.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SUPERVISES: Special Education Paraprofessionals
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans
Evaluate students to identify needs and monitoring effectiveness of IEP
Coordinate specialized evaluations for qualifying students
Work with classroom teacher to ensure modifications are developed and implemented
Coordinate the delivery of related services for the student
Maintain and update a student’s special education file
Document and maintain all special education-related paperwork (WPNs, Meeting minutes, correspondence, etc)
Train staff regarding expectations of needed modifications of coded students
Coordinates and provides assistive technology
Schedule, coordinate, and effectively prepare for special education meetings
Facilitate IEP meetings using standard meeting protocols
Communicate with parents as necessary to ensure families are aware of concerns and successes.
Keep staff apprised of pertinent information regarding students on their caseload
Verify that each IEP remains current and anticipates need to address IEP due dates
Perform other such duties as may be required to ensure student success.
