Job Summary:
The Youth Worker – Janitorial staff member maintain cleanliness and hygiene in locations designated locations designed for BGCGM administrative staff and locations dedicated to recreation for members. The staff member will ensure a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment by performing regular cleaning and maintenance duties in compliance with health and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Daily Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Clean and sanitize areas, equipment, and surfaces to prevent the spread of germs.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors, carpets, and mats.
- Empty and clean trash and recycling bins.
Restroom & Facility Upkeep:
- Stock restrooms with supplies and clean thoroughly throughout the shift.
- Ensure all fixtures, sinks, and floors are sanitized and functional.
Safety Compliance:
- Identify and address any potential hazards, such as spills or broken equipment.
- Follow established safety and cleaning protocols tailored to spaces frequented by youth as needed.
Specialized Cleaning Tasks:
- Spot clean walls, windows, and mirrors.
- Deep clean high-traffic areas and sanitize frequently touched surfaces like door handles, railings, and counters.
Maintenance Reporting:
- Notify management of maintenance issues, supply shortages, or equipment that requires repair to the Lead Supervisor.
Education Requirements:
- Must be a current high school student.
- Earn OSHA 10 Certificate
Experience Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must be a Boys & Girls Club Member enrolled into Brighter Futures.
- Must participate in mandatory education and career development programming.
Skills:
- Previous janitorial or cleaning experience preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Cheerful, enthusiastic, responsible, courteous customer service and self-motivated.
- Must be able to perform all tasks in an efficient manner.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a hygienic environment.
