What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planning Float position at Boys & Girls Clubs of The Sioux Empire?
Join our Early Learning Academy (ELA) as a Planning Float, rotating weekly through classrooms to provide Lead Teachers with dedicated office time for lesson planning and administrative tasks. You'll step into the Lead Teacher role, overseeing the classroom, staff, and engaging with children to foster development and ensure a safe, fun learning environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Work Full-Time: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, serving as Lead Teacher by following lesson plans and managing classroom activities at the Empower Campus Learning Center. You have the option to extend your hours to a full 40-hour workweek by working in the infant room from 2:45 PM to 5:00 PM if desired.
- Collaborate: Work closely with support staff to maintain classroom order and enhance children’s development.
- Assist with Care: Support children with diapering, potty training, rest periods, and nap schedules. Prepare and serve balanced meals and snacks, while ensuring a safe and clean environment, including light housekeeping duties.
- Ensure Safety and Communication: Monitor children’s play, sanitize toys, and maintain records of activities, meals, and medications. Provide daily updates to parents and guardians, report incidents, and encourage positive behavior development.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience & Education: Previous experience or education in early childhood development preferred but not required. CPR certification is required; however, we provide this training in-house if you are not currently certified.
- Communication, Teamwork & Reliability: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and solve problems efficiently.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally, and perform tasks that require frequent standing, kneeling, and walking. Must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Screening Process: Job offers are contingent upon a post-offer screening, which includes, but is not limited to, background checks, child abuse and neglect screening, and drug test.
