Teaching Artist

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:

• Develop and implement age appropriate arts curriculum for youth and teens
• Teach classes in your area of specialty (e.g. theater, story telling, painting, drawing, sculpting, print making, textile, artistic architecture, jewelry making, leather working, stained glass, mosaic art, design, creative writing, etc.)
• Recognize the diverse needs, interests, and learning styles of youth (typically aged 6-12), and adapt teaching strategies and content accordingly.
• Incorporate age-appropriate examples, projects, and activities that resonate with each group, fostering a sense of relevance and excitement about your artistic discipline.
• Create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages creativity and artistic expression.
• Supervise and manage class and the use of materials.
• Collaborate with other teaching artists to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive workshop.
• Establish and maintain effective behavior management strategies to ensure a respectful and safe learning environment.
• Participate in exhibitions, showcases, and other events to highlight student work
• Be punctual & responsible. Take roll and keep data as needed.

• Has training to obtain a level of proficiency in this field.

• Excellent organization skills and attention to details

EDUCATION:

• High school graduate
• College experience/training or college degree preferred. Other equivalent training may be considered.
• Training and experience in their discipline.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 – 10 per week
