The Foster Home Developer is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive recruitment plan designed to increase the capacity of foster families who provide a safe and nurturing home environment to children in foster care. The foster home developer will facilitate a training program for potential foster parents through PRIDE and pre-service trainings. The role will also provide monitoring and development of the licensed foster parents. Work schedule will reflect meeting the requirements under the essential functions and be overseen by the Case Management Supervisor. All employees of Boysville, Inc. receive training in the Quality Improvement (QI) activities of the company and are required to actively participate in QI meetings, tasks, projects and/or committees, as needed.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Recruit and assess foster home applicants to make a recommendation regarding verification as an agency foster home
  • Coordinate and participate in recruitment efforts and events in the community
  • Timely and accurate completion of required licensing, assessment, and support processes to ensure foster families meet contract, licensing, and accreditation standards and are appropriately prepared to care for children
  • Monitor licensed foster and/or adoptive homes as to ensure home is in compliance with contract, licensing, and accreditation standards and assist families in resolving compliance issues
  • Complete annual foster home inspections
  • Provide/maintain reports, statistics, records and documentation of activities on a monthly basis or as required
  • Serve on the PQI Records Review Committee
  • Coordinate and lead frequent community presentations for recruiting purposes
  • Complete home studies for potential foster families as part of the licensing process
  • Audit family files on a regular basis to ensure all requirements are met
  • Provide pre-service and ongoing training to foster parents to include PRIDE, SAMA, Car Seat, Water Safety and CPR/First Aid
  • Participate as backup to Case Manager in 24-hour on call duties on a rotating basis with Foster Care Coordinator
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed to meet business needs
  • Travel throughout Bexar County and surrounding areas (Comal County, Guadalupe County, Atascosa County, etc.) to provide and promote services to foster families
  • Backup Administrative Assistant on Training Log input and emailing current foster parents
  • Maintain new foster parents files by emailing and notifying of missing items as needed

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Demonstrated experience and successes in the recruitment and assessment of foster family homes
  • Prior experience working with children and families
  • Must possess excellent communication, organization, time management and written skills
  • Must be computer literate in windows applications
  • Must exhibit behavior that demonstrates cultural diversity and sensitivity (See Corporate Policy #2103)

 

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write and converse in English
  • Ability to communicate with staff, residents, families, vendors, support agencies and others
  • Ability to handle stress
  • Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing
  • Ability to respond to telephones and other auditory stimulation. Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements)
