Entry Level Qualifications :
High School Diploma / GED required; B.S. Degree in Behavioral Sciences preferred. C.A.C. One
1) year experience in alcohol and drug treatment setting with direct patient contact preferred.
I. Must be able to walk, run, bend, and stand continuously for approximately 3 to 4 hours per 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to see at 20 / 40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aide acceptable).
- Must have valid Alabama drivers license and a safe driving record. Must transport patients in a company van and be able to help a handicapped patient in and out of the van.
- Must be capable of administering CPR and being certified and have knowledge of first aide.
- Maintain records and have good communication skills.
- Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations.
- If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence.
General Responsibilities :
Provide assistance to the Recreation Therapist with patients and documentation as needed. Interact with the patient in accordance with established treatment procedures; facilitate patient orientation and goal attainment.
Know and abide by the general provisions of 42 CFR Part 2, "Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patient Records"; and 45 CFR "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act". This position has unrestricted access to patient health information.
