Position Summary: The Instructor specializes in conducting professional development courses for educators. Their responsibilities revolve around teaching and leading a group of learners through an existing course structure via a face-to-face or virtual classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct courses according to a prescribed outline
- Prepare course materials prior to each assigned course
- Travel to course location with instructional materials
- Understand, explain, and demonstrate use of the course materials
- Answer questions from course participants
- Communicate with Brainspring-trained educators
- Upon request, meet with administrators to answer questions or address concerns
- Adhere to course start and end times
- Maintain required certifications through relevant yearly professional development
- Attend scheduled meetings
- Submit travel expenses in a timely manner
- Maintain communication with Brainspring Educator Academy
- Stay abreast with current reading research and teaching practices
- Adhere to program updates
- Regularly check email and phone communications
- Earn and maintain Brainspring certification (training provided)
- Act as a Brainspring representative, supporting company policies and curriculum standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree or higher in Education, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field. Master’s is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, with a significant portion dedicated to literacy instruction and/or reading intervention.
- Certified Brainspring’s Orton-Gillingham Dyslexia Specialist (Please attach if you have this Certification)
- Certified through IMSLEC, IDA, or another similar MSL program (Please attach if you have this Certification)
- Proven experience in adult education or professional development, with a strong background in teaching, training, or mentoring educators.
- Drive, implement, and evaluate professional development programs.
- Deep knowledge of the science of reading, instructional strategies for struggling readers, and current trends in literacy education.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of inspiring and engaging diverse audiences.
- Commitment to evidence-based education and a continuous improvement mindset.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, tablets, or any other device necessary to meet the needs of the department.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time position, up to eight hours of work per day. Hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 7:30a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours may vary by assignment or assignment location. Overnight and weekend travel may be required.
Travel: Required to instruct trainings and/or attend outside events.
