Job Summary
The role of Patient Account Specialist is to work directly with patients in scheduling and checking them in and out of their appointments. They are the first and last touchpoint with the patients of Brandywine Podiatry and are essential to ensuring the proper flow of the office as well as keeping patients records accurate and their care timely. This person will run the front desk operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Answers incoming phone calls from patients, partners and vendors
- Schedules appointments for patients
- Checks patients in and out for their visits in office
- Cash handling and payments for DME products
- Adds off-site appointments to the schedule for the doctor
- Charges patients the correct copay or other fees as directed
- Competent understanding of patient ledger
- Ensures patient accounts are accurate and balances are collected prior to service being rendered
- Competently obtains patient insurance eligibility and authorizations
- Closes out daily collections and prepares a daily closing report
- Cross-train with Patient Care for tasks such as rooming patients and performing intakes and handoffs
- Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Some college or professional training in medical field (Preferred)
- 1-3 years total work experience (Preferred)
- Previous experience in a medical filed (Preferred)
- Previous experience with Brandywine Podiatry (Preferred)
- Previous experience in Podiatry or Medical Reception (Nice to Have)*
