Description

BASIC FUNCTION: Performs a variety of general housekeeping and cleaning duties to maintain the Independent Living area in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

NOTE: Some descriptions may have more specific duties and/or goals and objectives attached to this form.Such attachments normally reflect unique aspects of specific locations, shifts, departments, etc.

  1. Receives assignment from supervisor and follows cleaning and laundry schedule as outlined for the Housekeeping Department to clean Independent and Health Care Center resident rooms, nursing stations, kitchens, dining rooms, therapy/treatment rooms, offices, restrooms, activity rooms, utility areas, closets, lobbies, lounges, and halls.
    2. Cleans, dusts, washes, and disinfects all fixtures, floors and walls, doors and ceilings as directed; scours and polishes water fountains, sinks, mirrors, glass panels in doors and partitions, brass and moveable and stationary furnishings and fixtures; cleans ledges, shelves, vents, windows, window sills, etc.; replenishes supply of soap and towels in receptacles.
    3. Performs terminal cleaning duties according to established procedure in resident rooms when resident has been discharged or transferred and prepares rooms for new occupants.
    4. Performs cleaning duties in isolation rooms according to the Brazos Presbyterian Homes’ policy and procedure; performs terminal cleaning duties in isolation rooms when resident is transferred according to policy and procedure.
    5. Checks and restocks utility cart for supplies and equipment before beginning cleaning duties.
    6. Maintains the order of the supply closet by arranging equipment and supplies neatly.
    7. Identifies and reports any areas requiring special housekeeping attention to the Director of Housekeeping.

8. Cleans and disinfects resident care equipment.

Qualifications


POSITION EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES:

NOTE: These requirements represent minimum levels in order to perform the job on a satisfactory basis.Candidates must have the ability to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the job.

  1. Ability to read and understand directions required.
  2. Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
  3. Must be capable of executing all terms and conditions set forth in the Brazos Presbyterian Homes Personnel Policy Handbook and Policies and Procedure Manual, including but not limited to:
  4. Works in a safety conscious manner which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to others in the work place.
  5. Interacts in a tactful, diplomatic, and humanistic manner with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers to provide a safe, efficient, caring and therapeutic environment which ensures the self-respect, personal dignity, rights and physical safety of each resident and center guest.
  6. Maintains a dependable attendance record and adheres to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code.
  7. Complies with Brazos Presbyterian Homes policies and procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  8. Adheres to policies on drug free work place.
  9. Must be able to exert up to 30 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, crouching, handling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and fingering.
  10. Adheres to policies and procedures when coming into contact with various types of liquids and cleaning material.
  11. Must present professional behavior when encountering residents, visitors, and other employees.
  12.   16. Removes environmental waists and cleans disposable areas throughout the Independent and Healthcare facility.
  17. Checks and restocks utility cart for supplies and equipment before beginning cleaning duties.
  18. Maintains the order of the supply closet by arranging equipment and supplies neatly.
  19. Identifies and reports any areas requiring special housekeeping attention to the Director of Housekeeping.
  20. Cleans and disinfects resident care equipment.
  21. Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
  22. Requires sufficient good health to properly discharge duties. Employees shall not be permitted to work who have infectious disease or skin lesion for the duration of the communicability.
