Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze a variety of business financial documents, including tax filings, income statements, and balance sheets, to assess company value.
- Prepare comprehensive asset-based and market-based valuation reports tailored specifically for small businesses.
- Conduct market research and gather data from relevant databases to identify trends, benchmarks, and comparable company data.
- Collaborate with SMB lenders and financial institutions to ensure that valuation reports meet lending criteria and assist in securing financing or making informed sale decisions.
- Present clear, concise valuation findings to clients and stakeholders, simplifying complex financial data for easy understanding.
- Stay current on valuation standards (USPAP, SSVS No. 1), economic trends, and industry-specific factors that impact small business valuations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in small business valuations, ideally with experience using financial statements and tax filings as primary data sources.
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling techniques and advanced Excel functions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain valuation results to non-financial stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification such as ABV, CVA, or ASA.
- Familiarity with asset-based and market-based valuation methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
