Subject: BPS/Children’s Museum of Easton Family Night Educator
Funding is available for up to 10 Brockton Public Schools educators to support BPS Family Night at the Children’s Museum of Easton. The event will be held on January 10, 2025 at the Children’s Museum of Easton [9 Sullivan Avenue, North Easton]. Kindergarten students, each with a parent/guardian in attendance, will enter the museum for a special night of play just for Brockton Public Schools. BPS educators will spend the evening interacting with students and parents/guardians with a special focus on modeling how play can be leveraged to develop oral language skills. Although this Job Ad is specific to January 10, this is the first of four events.
Qualifications:
•Currently teaching, coaching, or leading at the elementary level.
•Experience facilitating literacy focused learning.
•Familiar with how to nurture oral language skills as a strong foundation for future reading success.
Objectives:
•Model for parents/guardians in attendance strategies for interacting with students during play to foster oral language skills.
•Interact with parents/guardians to build positive relationships and share literacy learning information/answer questions.
•Further develop one’s own skill in engaging with families to support literacy learning.
Expectations:
•Attend one 1-hour virtual meeting prior to January 10, 2025 on a date that is mutually agreed upon
•Prepare for meeting noted above by reading/reviewing related materials
•Attend BPS Family Night at the Children’s Museum Easton on January 10, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. [As a note- families
attend from 4:30-6:30]
Compensation: Stipend $200.00 for full participation in all activities noted above.
