Description:
Broussard Brothers is seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Counsel to join our team. The ideal Associate Counsel shall be responsible for handling and assisting various departments with legal matters for Broussard Brothers, Inc. and its affiliate and related entities.
Essential Functions:
Contract Management
- Review and negotiate standard contracts
- Manage lease renewals, terminations, and routine rental agreements
- Review and revise bid proposal forms and credit applications
- Support development and maintenance of contract templates
- Assist with contract compliance monitoring
Claims and Litigation
- Manage routine collection actions
- Process and respond to subpoenas, records requests, and wage garnishments
- Coordinate document gathering for discovery requests
- Support insurance claim documentation
- Handle routine defense and indemnity tenders
- Assist with oversight of outside counsel on routine matters
Compliance and Corporate Governance
- Monitor corporate license renewals
- Maintain legal compliance calendar
- Support document retention policy implementation
- Assist HR departments with routine employment matters
- Research legal updates and regulatory changes
- Support corporate governance initiatives
Competencies/Experience Requirements:
- JD from accredited law school
- 1-3 years of relevant legal or work experience
- Active Louisiana state bar license or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Experience with contract review and negotiation
- Proficiency in legal research and writing
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem-solving orientation
