Job Overview:
Supports the Director, Environmental & Regulatory Affairs for environmental and regulatory compliance programs for Cooper River Partners (CRP) and select tenants such as Hydera and Lanxess at the Bushy Park industrial site. Monitors environmental programs and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulations, codes, standards, and licenses. Submits timely and accurate submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (DES) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serves as environmental technical expert for CRP and tenants.
- Functions as the secondary contact with regulatory agencies and other outside stakeholder groups.
- Maintains complex environmental permitting and regulatory tracking.
- Provides support during development of regulatory compliance programs.
- Drives continuous improvement opportunities including system development.
- Promotes employee engagement to achieve desired results.
- Maintains records in “audit ready” condition.
- Develops training materials for CRP and site employees as required by CRP permits.
- Ensures compliance with the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Programs for CRP and Hydera.
- Coordinates required sampling and testing for NPDES, Title V and Stormwater permit conditions.
- Supports compliance activities related to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Subtitle C Permit and associated remediation and monitoring activities for CRP and tenants at Bushy Park.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Specific Skills:
- Strong understanding of environmental science principles and engineering practices.
- Proficient in analyzing and interpreting data.
- Familiarity with PI data management software.
- Knowledge of state and federal air, water, and waste regulations.
- Ability to work with little or no direct supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possesses good organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or scientific field of study.
Minimum Experience:
3 years of experience in environmental compliance systems.
Certifications & Licenses:
Valid driver’s license
Ability to achieve certification in the following areas within 12 months of employment:
U.S. DOT HAZMAT Certification
South Carolina Physical/Chemical Wastewater D License
Visible Emissions Evaluator Certification
RCRA Large Quantity Generator Certification
Underground Storage Tank Class C Operator License
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities: N/A
Physical Requirements:
Possess close visual acuity and acuity to determine accuracy and to operate machinery, motor vehicles, and heavy equipment; ability to stand, walk, grasp, talk, hear, repetitive motion, crouch, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, reach, and exert up to 20lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 10lbs pounds of force frequently.
Working Conditions:
Subject to environmental conditions with activities inside and outside and temperature levels above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Considerations should be given to the effect of environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.
Job Type: Full-time
Shift Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
