Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Knowledge of math, including medical/infusion rate calculations as well as medical documentation;
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of departmental medical guidelines, operational protocols, as well as city and county geography, mapping and routing;
- Skill in operating a computer;
- Skill in oral and written communication.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, squat, bend, twist, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lifting, moving, pushing or pulling up to 10 pounds does generally occur, in emergencies may be necessary to lift, move, push, or pull up to 100 pounds. Physical requirements such as moving patients weighing 200 plus pounds from the floor to a cot and then loading the patient into ambulance occurs. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, color vision, depth perception, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
Additional Information
Certificate, License: Valid driver's license. Certified AEMT, Kansas. Hazardous Material Awareness Certificate.
Bloodborne pathogens Certificate, Emergency Vehicle Operations Certificate, HIPAA Certificate.
Required Education and/or Experience: One year related experience, High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well after six months in the position. 18 hours of annual training.
Preferred Education and/or Experience: Two years related experience, High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or Associate’s degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Emergency medical experience.
Salary : $42,467 - $55,244
