Job Summary :
- In this Utility person role operators will prepare guitar necks and guitar bodies for the finishing operations. There are many operations that can be learned over time as a Pre-Finish Utility operator. It is intended that each team member will gain a solid understanding of the processes between the Body and Neck Sanding rotation, where the operators sand the wood for the last time before the finish is applied. Operators may also learn the Filling and Binding Cleaning rotation where operators apply a wood filler over the guitar necks, sides, and backs to level open wood grain pores.
- Over time the utility person will be responsible for meeting established quality specifications and operating procedures for each job. Team members are also expected to be flexible as they are sometimes asked to move to different jobs in both the Sanding Rotation and or the Filling Rotation throughout the course of their shift. Team members may also learn various operations such as : body and neck taping, scuffing the finish, applying wood conditioner to raise the grains, inspecting necks or bodies, using a scraper to clean the guitar bindings, using CNC equipment for drilling headstocks for the tuning machines.
- Operators could also learn how to inlay the decorative pearl pieces into the bodies and necks of the guitar.
- Performing this job would require very fine attention to detail, use of tools such as : 5" pneumatic orbital sander and or a 2 - 3 lb. filling buffer, files, glues, scrapers, wood fillers, rulers, straight edges, and various measurement gauges.
Additional Requirements :
Work Hours : 2nd shift - 2 : 00p.m. - 10 : 30p.m. or 2 : 00p.m. - 11 : 30p.m. Monday through Friday. (Initial training may take place during 1st shift hours, 5 : 45 a.m. - 3 : 15 p.m.)
Production demands may necessitate overtime Monday through Thursday.
A condition of employment is that all candidates are required to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
