GFL Environmental is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic - 3rd Year Apprentice and Above to join our team in Squamish, BC! Why Join TEAM GREEN Extended Health, Dental and Vision RRSP and DPSP options for future financial security Paid holidays, 10 days of paid time off per year Other Perks: Including but not limited to: Tool Allowance for the purchase, maintenance and replacement of necessary tools Shift differentials with premiums for 2nd and 3rd shifts Premiums paid for certain certifications Monthly training with third-party vendors Promotion opportunities fostered by an active Succession Planning program Cross Training opportunities A Day in the Life* of a Mechanic: Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically operated trucks as well as associated heavy duty equipment Using various power tools, hand instruments and cutting-edge equipment Completing daily reports, work orders and ordering necessary parts Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procure parts Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedule What’s Required: Mechanics must have: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired 1 year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards Follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
