Job Summary: The Data Center Construction Infrastructure Project Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of data center construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver innovative and efficient data center facilities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Management:
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to define project objectives and deliverables.
Team Leadership:
- Lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, and vendors.
- Foster a collaborative team environment to achieve project goals.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage project budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying any variances.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Quality Assurance:
- Oversee construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
Communication and Reporting:
- Maintain open communication with all stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status.
- Prepare and present project reports to senior management.
Vendor Management:
- Evaluate and select contractors and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with external partners.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure systems, including power distribution, HVAC, fire suppression, and physical security.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and building codes related to data center construction.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience Education level (HS/AS/BA Degree requirement or equivalent experience required/preferred and area of study).
- At least 5 years of experience in managing construction projects, within the data center or critical infrastructure sector.
- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with green building certifications (e.g., LEED).
- Familiarity with cloud computing technologies and their impact on data center design and construction.
- Experience with BIM (billing information modeling) is preferred
Physical Requirements:
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
