What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Governmental Program Analyst position at California Department of Justice?
The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) in the Record Quality Services Program, independently responds to all criminal and civil subpoenas, court orders, and written requests for criminal history records maintained by the Department of Justice (DOJ) pursuant to Penal Code Section 11105. The AGPA reviews all requests and ensures that legal requirements are met for the release of criminal history records to the requestor. The AGPA responds to inquiries from the public, criminal justice agencies, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, and regulatory agencies concerning criminal history records and their use in administrative hearings and trials and resolves discrepancies and/or errors on an individual’s criminal history record with reference to the certification of documents upon request. The AGPA testifies in criminal and civil cases and/or administrative hearings in state and federal courts, as needed, regarding the record keeping processes used by the DOJ to establish, maintain, and store state summary criminal history record information. The AGPA also assists management with special projects such as workload analysis, procedure and legal mandates review, legislative review, special database search requests, and administrative support, as needed. The AGPA works independently with DOJ legal counsel to review policy in regards to access to criminal history records and information and advises management on the best course of action to criminal history requests for information.
