JOB TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator
Camp Big Sky REPORTS TO (Title): Executive Director
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: No
CAMP BIG SKY MISSION: Our mission is to provide education, training and skills development to children and adults with disabilities through participation in accessible outdoor activities.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Oversee the scheduling and coordination of all Camp Big Sky Volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for all duties associated with recruiting, retaining, recognizing, and record keeping regarding our volunteers.
This position will schedule and coordinate Host Volunteers at Bruce’s Lake and serve as an extra volunteer to help host campers, as needed. Part-time position 20-30 hours per week for 50 weeks.
ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
❑ Provide OJT to new volunteers to ensure that all camp activities are provided in a safe, efficient, and least restrictive manner.
❑ Recruitment: Identify and attract potential volunteers through outreach efforts and community events. Attend Resource Fairs and HOIUW seminars to collaborate with other volunteer organizations.
❑ Scheduling: Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments to ensure adequate coverage for host volunteers, events and ongoing projects.
❑ Supervision: Provide ongoing support to volunteers, including regular check-ins and addressing any concerns or issues that arise.
❑ Communication: Maintain clear and open communication with volunteers, providing updates on organizational activities, events, and opportunities for involvement.
❑ Recognition: Organize appreciation events and initiatives to recognize and celebrate volunteers’ contributions
❑ Evaluation: Provide monitoring and gather feedback from volunteers to make necessary improvements.
❑ Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, roles, and contributions for reporting and evaluation purposes.
❑ Collaboration: Work with other staff members to integrate volunteers into various aspects of the organization.
❑ Community Engagement: Build relationships with community organizations to promote volunteer opportunities and enhance community involvement.
❑ Presence at the camp, as needed, based on volunteer availability.
❑ Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director that are reasonably attributed to this position.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
❑ A high school diploma or GED equivalency.
❑ Must have strong communication skills, interpersonal relations, and excellent organizational skills.
❑ Must be able to work flexible shifts and occasional Saturdays.
❑ Must be able to work outdoors with wide variations in temperature.
❑ Demonstrated knowledge in basic computer skills.
❑ A good driving record.
❑ Ability to lift 50 lbs. safely.
❑ Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and the ability to interact comfortably with children and adults with disabilities are important.
❑ Certification in or willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: We will provide CPR Certification.
