Pay: $520/week

 

Do you want to spend a paid summer in Alaska? Join us at Camp K for fun at one of Alaska's most beautiful sleep away camps in Cooper Landing. Just two hours South of Anchorage, our camp is located on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula. If you want to build an inclusive and loving community at our camp, this is a perfect job for you! Housing and meals are included for the entire season.


PROGRAM OVERVIEW


  • Program: Camp K is an ACA Accredited Summer Residential Youth Co-ed Camp.
  • Location: Camp K is located in Copper Landing, AK on Kenai Lake.
  • Dates: All Staff training begins May 18. Camp opens to youth in early June and runs through early August.
  • Time: Camp K offers several sessions throughout the summer ranging from 4 days to 9 days. 
  • Staff Shifts: Camp K staff reside on camp premises during all camp sessions. Camp sessions range from 4 days/3 nights to 9 days/8 nights throughout the summer. There is personal time between sessions to enjoy the beautiful Alaska Summer. 
  • Activities: While at Camp K youth are provided hiking, boating activities, outdoor games, art building, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building. 


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Waterfront Core Counselor is responsible for the 24 hour per day supervision and guidance of a cabin group of campers, working with other counselors and support staff to facilitate a variety of activities. Additionally, provides oversight to the Camp K Aquatics Program, which entails instructing all lakeside activities, i.e. canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and water survival skills on Kenai Lake, lifeguarding, and supervising camp lifeguards.  Live on the premises of Camp K and engage in work that supports Camp Fire’s Promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice and discover who they are.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Lifeguard Certification from a nationally recognized provider. 
    • Prior experience working with youth, preferably in a residential camp setting.
    • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age (21 preferred) is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.

    Preferred:

    • Prior experience in boating instruction, with lesson planning for open water settings, is strongly preferred.
    • Small craft safety instructor experience, preferred.
