Camp For All seeks a creative, strategic Communications Manager to manage the organization’s internal/external communications. This position offices in the Houston location and reports to the President and CEO, while collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders. The Communications Manager is expected to help create and maintain a professional environment and brand, where the Camp For All mission is carried forward. The Communications Manager is a member of the administrative team who works together throughout each year to take Camp For All to the next level for those we serve and all of the employees. The Communications Manager is vital to the success of the organization as this role is responsible for shaping, executing, and maintaining both the internal and external brand of Camp For All.

Camp For All collaborates with more than 65 nonprofit organizations to enable nearly 9,000 campers and their families to discover life each year. 


Requirements

  • Develops annual and long-term strategies, overseeing all interdepartmental and external communications.  
  • Collaborates with all departments and teams to achieve communication goals. 
  • Facilitates the Marketing & PR Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Manages communication outreach with Partner nonprofits in support of shared goals 
  • Maintains the Camp For All Brand and Style guide, ensuring all materials align with the brand identity.  
  • Develops and manages marketing and program materials, including invitations, e-letters, newsletters, reports, direct mail, videos, photos, and fundraising materials. 
  • Manages projects with contract agency and graphic designer
  • Manages projects with potential videographers and photographers 
  • Oversees and maintains the website in collaboration with key team members. 
  • Builds and maintains media relationships, coordinates opportunities, and collaborates with the PR firm to create and distribute press releases and marketing campaigns. 
  • Analyses and tracks earned media, social media reach, web traffic, and SEO, reporting findings monthly and quarterly to the Board and executive team. 
  • Manages social media and assists in strategy development for platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. 
  • Coordinates and manages interviews with team members, including collecting camper stories. 
  • Attends fundraising events, auxiliary group meetings, and nonprofit partner meetings in Houston and Burton, Texas, as needed. 
  • Communicates clearly and positively with board members, community organizations, volunteers, and donors, both in writing and verbally. 
  • Maintains a flexible schedule, including occasional extended hours, weekends, and onsite work at Camp as needed. 
  • Pursues ongoing professional development through active involvement in relevant organizations. 

Supplemental Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with expertise in editing, proofreading, and layout/design. 
  • Must be a strong self-starter, highly organized, creative, professional, and flexible, with the ability to independently manage multiple key communications initiatives. 
  • Experience collaborating in a multi-task environment with diverse internal and external groups. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Constant Contact. 
  • Strong knowledge of current and ongoing digital and social media trends, with experience using the WordPress platform.  
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and offer communications counsel to both staff, Board, volunteers and Partner organizations 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in working with donors

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in communications, community outreach, marketing, public relations and/or journalism 
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or communications 

Compensation

$55,000 - $65,000


Travel between the Houston office and the Camp location(s) is considered an essential part of the Communications Manager job, with all mileage reimbursed in a timely manner upon submission of an expense report. This position requires onsite attendance but has the option of working remotely one day a week after successfully fulfilling 90 days of employment.
