THE ROLE: We are looking for a Controller to oversee and mentor our accounting team and manage our day to day accounting activities. The position will manage multiple accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close, cash flow analysis, and FP& A. The position will report to the CFO but will be the primary driver of day-to-day activities.

Major Areas of Responsibility for the Controller:

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation and distribution of the company’s internal and external financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting methods (“GAAP”), principles and practices
  • Analyze new and/or nonroutine transactions and develop appropriate accounting treatment according to GAAP and prepare accounting memo and analysis of conclusions reached
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly and quarterly reports as required by various regulatory authorities
  • Oversee preparation of weekly cash flow analysis and update cash forecast
  • Run the monthly/quarterly close process, ensuring all results are posted and fully analyzed and reported to executive management per defined timelines
  • Direct and supervise the Company’s day-to-day accounting operations, including the execution of operational accounting policy, general ledger responsibilities, A/R, A/P, and other accounting activities
  • Participate in ERP integration and/or customizations to the ERP platform as deemed necessary as a representative of the Finance Department
  • Manage, mentor and develop the finance and accounting team, operating as a player coach who can take on projects as needed. Foster a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Prepares detail of work plan and schedule, complete detailed analysis and research, identifies options, prepare report for management and recommend action or change.
  • Participates in the formulation of department budgets.
  • Serve as a liaison to external auditors or other regulatory body audits
  • Perform special projects and other analytical support as requested

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Independent/flexible problem-solver with the ability to positively cope with change
  • Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent major and CPA certification preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of dynamic accounting management experience in a high-growth, multi-entity company
  • 5 years of working experience in a leadership/management position within an accounting organization, with validated ability to communicate with executive management
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and classification of accounts and transactions
  • Hands -on experience in leading accounting operations, the monthly/quarterly accounting close and preparation of financial documents
  • Experience with one or more financial ERP/general ledger systems
  • Ability to respond to, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining the highest of standards of completeness and accuracy

This is a full time position based in Santa Rosa, CA and is expected to operate from CannaCraft’s offices.
