Employment Counselor
Non-Exempt
M-F 8:30-4 pm (35 hour work week)
Annual salary $45,000
The Employment Counselor is responsible for facilitating the Center’s employment program, including but not limited to working one-on-one with clients, conducting outreaches, and forming community partnerships.
Essential Job Functions:
· In-office position-The ability to get to and from CDCI's office on one's own
· Prepare and coordinate applications for employment/ unemployment and other related employment programs as needed.
· Assist clients in understanding how working impacts their benefits and educating clients about work incentives, SS reporting requirements, and working while receiving benefits (SSI/SSDI). Must complete WIP-C certification.
· Assist clients with help in searching and applying for employment. This may entail helping them navigate ACCES-VR services, resume assistance, soft skills, filing out a job application, or assisting in the navigation of job search platforms so they can learn to do this now on their own independently.
· Assist referred clients with Job Placement Services
· Assist clients with work readiness skills through one on one services and group presentations.
· Assist clients with work experience development.
· Develop relationships with area businesses to provide community work experiences.
· Provide coaching support for employment as needed on a limited basis.
· Complete ACCES VR referrals and appropriate Reports promptly
· Provide the Client with information and referrals as needed.
· Maintain accurate contact notes and consumer files
· Work as part of a team to organization meet annual contract goals and objectives through systems advocacy
· Complete Monthly Reports
· Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelors Degree or measurable employment and volunteer experience involving teaching advocacy, community organizing, and community outreach and community resource coordination.
· Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Employment programs.
· Employment placement and development experience.
· Knowledge of benefits, including SSI/SSDI, work incentives, and Social service
· Effective telephone, organizational, and writing skills.
· Ability to work as a member of a team.
· Valid NYS driver’s License
