Job Description
Role
The Data Scientist is part of a team that will help set direction for data science/predictive analytics initiatives across the organization that will deliver the unparalleled customer experience to our customers and drive revenue for our organization. This role will influence next generation data science tools and data products and pioneer ideas and products in new areas such as: machine learning interpretability, automatic machine learning, model management, deployment pipelines, and GPU computing. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which involves other multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Knowledge & Skills
Proven expert level foundation of data analytics. Demonstrated hand-on working knowledge of R, C# or Python, Snowflake, SQL Server or similar database management tool and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Education
Degree in Computer Science, Math, Economics, Statistics, or another quantitative field OR any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.
Skills
Creative and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate a business scenario. Have strong proficiency in statistical algorithm development and evaluation. Have proficiency in advanced statistics, hyperparameter tuning, A/B Testing, predictive modeling, recommendation systems, propensity scoring, natural language processing, clustering, customer segmentation, data acquisition, mining structured and unstructured data, designing tools, automation systems, and data frameworks. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Effective use of multiple reporting tools.
Physical Requirement
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
Working Conditions
Regular in-office attendance required.

Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to plan and direct the work activities of self and others. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.

- Work closely across the organization to develop and implement statistical analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning processes and algorithms, and deep learning for multiple lines of business.
- Use dynamic techniques like Machine Learning to gain insights about the future.
- Answer the “What will happen, and What should be done?” questions.
- Use metrics-driven mindset along with keen understanding of both art and science of data analysis to provide key inputs for strategies in regard to all aspects of customer segmentation and channels.
- Listen to the needs of peers and customers and adapt where they need to be and what they need.
- Write technical proposals and explain in simple terms.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must comply with current applicable laws, regulations and bank policies and procedures. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
