Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications to our patients, particularly in a senior care environment. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and adherence to HIPAA regulations, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care.
Duties
- Administer medications to patients as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with medical guidelines.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects related to medication.
- Assist with tube feeding and catheter care as needed, demonstrating proficiency in these areas.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient, ensuring confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide support in memory care and home community care settings, fostering a safe and supportive environment for residents.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Stay informed about changes in medication protocols and participate in ongoing training to enhance skills related to physiology knowledge and medical terminology.
Experience
- Previous experience in senior care or a medical office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and best practices is essential.
- Knowledge of physiology, catheter care, tube feeding, memory care, and HIPAA compliance will be beneficial for candidates.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment are required.
