Job Title: Simulation Technician Department: Nursing Reports To: Simulation Director Location: On-site FLSA Status: Exempt Time Requirements: Full-time, 40 hours a week and some nights and weekends as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervision of work study students as requested. Summary Description: Seaking a Simulation Technician to work within the Carson-Newman’s Nursing E.A.G.L.E. Simulation Center. Will serve as a simulation operator or standardized patient by creating, testing, and running scenarios with faculty instructors, and collaborating with leadership to facilitate all simulation events. Will conduct room set-up, inventory management, scheduling, maintainence, cleaning, and technical support. Should understand the use of simulation technologies. May supervise SIM student worker(s). This position is not a faculty position nor do you need to be a nurse. Successful applicants might have a background in healthcare but could also have experience in theatre, computers or public service. Act as a standardized patient Conduct SIM Center tours Guide, assist, and check off certain nursing skills deemed appropriate Supervise, coordinate, schedule, review, and document simulation activites Assemble simulation supplies/equipment Work with faculty/staff to plan simulation experiences Requesition supplies, clean, maintain and update materials Aid students and faculty with simulation Learn and implement simulation skills *Other items deemed appropriate by the Simulation Center Director Should attend a simulation conference annually: Odd years – Personal/Professional development Even years – will submit to present. Education: Completion of “Clinical Simulation MOOC” from The George Washington University within 6 months of hire. A degree is not required but preferred. Willing to obtain the Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist® (CHSOS®) certification from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare” Experience: Entry Level Required Skills: Ability to problem selve. Self starter. Strong people and computer skills. Strong customer service, along with written and verbal (English) communication skills. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Heavy lifting of simulation manikins (0-200lbs). Able to push, pull, and lift 150lbs frequently. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching and standing is required. Keyboard/computer use and repetative motions may be required. Able to reach overhead.
