We are willing to also consider a qualified candidate in the Greensboro, North Carolina, and the Greater Roanoke, and Danville Virginia areas. The candidate must be able to commute to the Martinsville, VA location based on the schedule their leader provides.
POSITION TITLE: Compliance Assistant
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
Assists the compliance department to ensure that the compliance needs of the department and the bank are current and correct in order to adhere to state and federal compliance regulations and requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Assists with the departmental needs to maintain the compliance monitoring plan, including, but not limited to, organizing work papers, tracking management responses, maintaining compliance internal tracking docs, and assisting with coordination of monitoring reviews
• Serves as secretary/scribe for Compliance Committee as needed
• Assists with preparation for committee meetings and planning sessions
• Assists Compliance Supervisor with annual policy management
• Assists with Complaint Management process
• Assist Director of Regulatory Risk Management as needed
• Assists with external audit preparations
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior experience in banking strongly preferred
• Knowledge of Carter Bank processes and procedures preferred
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Intermediate proficiency with MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
• Basic understanding of state and federal banking compliance laws and regulations
• Intermediate data entry skills
• Intermediate organizational skills
• Attention to detail and time management skills
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Standing, walking, bending and stooping required
• Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
• Must be able to occasionally move or lift up to 10 pounds
• May be asked to work supplemental hours periodically
• Limited travel required occasionally during and after business hours
