Role Overview
Building the future one associate at a time, we believe in nurturing new talent through an immersive intern experience. This intern program will allow new associates to gain experience and build a foundation in one or more of the three major career areas: Preconstruction, Project Management, and Field Operations. Each individual’s experience is carefully curated for your individual growth and development and provides critical exposure to all facets of our business while creating a culture of cross training, understanding, and appreciation for all aspects of construction management.

Role & Responsibilities
Below is a sample of what you could experience or be responsible for during your internship:
- Preconstruction Focus:
- Learn how to “take off” project quantities and assemble project scopes for bidding
- Manages the collection and analysis of data needed to estimate the time, materials, labor and cost required to construct a project
- Combine historical data and current trends to create and present accurate estimates
- Solicit the appropriate quantity of subcontractors in a timely manner, and know from experience how to choose the right subcontractors for the project (reference checking and networking).
- Review bid scope sheets, review subcontractor proposals for accuracy, and provide accurate quantity surveys
- Use Catamount’s “bid system” efficiently and correctly, and distribute addendums timely when necessary
- Hand off estimating projects to the Project Manager in a clear, precise, and timely manner
- Project Management Focus:
- Assists in preparation of complete subcontract Scope of Work; understand contract documents and drawings to identify gaps in the documents
- Assists Project Manager on maintaining the project schedule, purchasing schedule, submittals, change orders, RFIs, and documentation of project issues
- Attend subcontractor meetings and OAC (Owner, Architect, Contractor) meetings
- Works with PMs and Superintendents to identify quality issues and communicate them accordingly; recognize underperforming subcontractors timely with project notifications.
- Assist in projecting and forecasting project costs
- Field Operations Focus:
- Onsite during all work activities to ensure the job meets or exceeds client expectations
- Assist the Superintendent on the creation and adherence to a well-planned 3-week schedule and schedule and coordinate subcontractors to perform their work
- Ensuring quality with tasks like maintaining a quality deficiency list
- Champion job-site safety by leading pre-task safety meetings with subcontractors, posting required notices, preparing reports, maintaining information, and documenting safety warnings
- Support documentation in key areas such daily construction reports, T&M issues, RFI’s, and project photography
- Support close-out duties such as project turnover matrix, maintaining as-built documents, developing and completing punch-lists
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in construction technology, building construction, civil engineering, business or related field
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and vendors
