Description
Primary responsibilities will include coaching, coordination, supervision, and promotion of activities for the women's softball program.
Examples of Duties
Selects and recruits players through organized pre-season sessions.
Instructs players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises.
Establishes clear strategies for the team and implementing organized practices that develop the skills needed for that strategy including particular elements of situational game events.
Assess player's skills, monitor players during competition and practice; organize and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises based on performance.
Monitors student athlete progress reports to assure attendance and academic success.
Help supervise student athlete study halls.
Maintains database to track student athlete academic progress.
Adheres to all rules, regulations, and policies of the College, Athletics Department, NJCAA, and federal Title IX requirements.
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Reports any rule, or policy violations to Athletic Director, or appropriate college authorities as appropriate.
Collaborate with Athletic Director in maintaining team operations budget, including equipment ordering, travel, and facility needs.
Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury
Maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related record keeping.
Participate in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
Collaborate with Athletic Director to determine award winners at seasons' ends.
Attends staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
Establish relationships with school faculty and staff.
Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, or other appropriate administrator
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Two seasons experience as a coach or assistant coach required.
Two seasons experience as a coach or assistant coach at the intercollegiate level preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, teaching, and communication skills are essential.
Computer literate.
Responsible, positive leadership, disciplined, and a team player.
Possession of a valid Driver's License. Must have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations, or a pattern of repeat violations.
