Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations to assess mental health conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Diagnose and treat a range of mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and others.
- Provide brief supportive counseling.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, ensuring safe and effective use.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including social workers, and medical staff, to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide crisis intervention and support in emergency situations.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies.
- Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of psychiatric residency program.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry.
- Active medical license in the state of New York (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in clinical psychiatric practice, including inpatient, outpatient, and medical hospital settings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Preferred Skills:
- Subspecialty training or interest in areas such as consultation-liaison psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, addiction medicine, or forensic psychiatry.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
Knowledge of telepsychiatry practices.
