General Description of Job:
The HSE Advisor is responsible for the success of CCI Industrial Service's safety program, in accordance with all company, EPA and OSHA requirements. This position requires basic sampling, testing, training, documentation, employee mentoring, auditing and record keeping for
Client. This position is a seasonal, rotational position for the 2025 Beluga drilling season.
This will be from about April 15th, 2025 through about October 31st, 2025.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
2) Assist in continually forming and complying with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI and client.
3) Schedule, oversee and conduct training courses in compliance with OSHA and client course standards.
4) Track employee records and ensure that all employees are compliant and up-to-date on all HSE and training requirements.
5) Audit CCI client jobsites for hazard recognition and evaluate hazard mitigation techniques as it relates to personnel and health concerns.
6) Audit company specific THA's on a regular basis to ensure they are being completed in accordance with client and CCI HSE standards and protocols.
7) Active involvement with case management of all injuries, incidents, spills and equipment damage. Compile documentation, lead incident investigation and determine root causes as needed by CCI and client.
8) Communicate daily with clientele.
9) Maintain 100% “Compliance Readiness” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements.
10) Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
- Compliance with required HSE training.
- Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
- Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly.
- Facilitate / Lead daily client safety meetings, if requested.
- Responsible for being involved with investigations, witness statements, incident reports and communications with client.
11) Perform Jobsite walk-downs with the foreman to provide a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for the work to be completed.
12) Ensure hazard identification, scope of work steps or phases and job staffing are communicated and documented in the JSA. Ensure proper signatures and facilitation of the JSA roll out at appropriate work locations.
13) Maintain and demonstrate proficient working knowledge of all response-related equipment, policies and procedures at all times.
14) Maintain legible and accurate records such as training rosters.
15) Facilitate client risk assessment processes for company projects.
16) Must be comfortable with speaking to personnel at all levels of the organization.
Other Responsibilities:
1) Ensure that safety is visible in the field by performing site visits.
2) Encourage crew members to do safety related activities in the field such as THA audits, safety observations/discussions.
Work Environment:
1) This is a seasonal, rotational position in Beluga, Alaska. Flexibility regarding hours of work is required as needed to meet demands of the job.
2) Position may be exposed to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors.
3) While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction site. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
4) Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and wastes.
Mental Activities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills and understand English. The employee is frequently required to use decision making skills and speak English. The employee is regularly required to use interpersonal, customer service mentoring, training and supervision skills. The employee will regularly be required to read and write English, and use independent judgment, discretion problem analysis.
Requirements:
Job Qualifications Mandatory:
1) 2-Year degree in Occupational Safety & Health or 2 Year degree in other studies with proof of current enrollment in an HSE certificate or degree program from an accredited institution.
2) 2-Years of experience in a full-time safety position.
3) Valid Driver's License, no restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Nationally recognized certifications such as, OHST, CHST, ASP, CSP, or CIH.
2) Alaska Oil & Gas experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Must be able to organize and facilitate group meetings.
2. Ability to clearly speak, write, read and understand the English language.
3. Must have excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills that include good listening, providing clear direction and effective feedback.
4. Extensive computer experience, including the ability to administer online training, generate data analysis reports and use Microsoft Office. Proficiency tests in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint may be administered during the final stages of the interview process to validate candidate's skill in each area.
5. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely in a small office environment.
6. Knowledge of company HSE interdepartmental processes and procedures.
7. Technical writing skills for program development, client communications.
8. Must be willing to work remote, on rotation.
Physical Requirements:
1) Physical and technical requirements that meet the standards of CCI.
o Infrequent lifting up to 50lbs
o Frequent walking and standing for periods exceeding 2 hours.
o Frequent keyboard use and sitting at a desk.
o Frequent bending, twisting and reaching.
2) Must be able to pass medical qualification to wear a respirator and be in a constant state of readiness to wear a respirator during scheduled work hours.
3) Must be able to enter confined spaces.
Contingencies:
Any offer of employment will be contingent upon:
1) Demonstrated ability to perform the physical requirements of this position via the successful completion of a Fitness for Duty Evaluation;
2) Negative results in a pre-employment drug test
CCI will schedule and cover program costs for Fitness for Duty Evaluations and drug tests for job candidates.
Candidates will not be compensated for their personal time spent completing these programs or for costs of previously attending a drug test or FFD evaluation.
