Job Title: Designer (Structural)

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)
In collaboration with the Engineer of Record, Layout Coordinator and other stakeholders, the Designer develops designs by conceptualizing, creating, revising and finalizing "Best for Project" 3D designs and drawings of complex permanent mine facility infrastructure, temporary sinking gear, material handling, process systems, and above ground facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Health & Safety
- Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation
- Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report to Health and Safety Department as needed
- Ensure all applicable safety codes and regulations are met by appropriate design and use of technology
- Be a champion for safety, advocating safe behavior while incorporating safety into the designs produced by the group
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This description lists the core responsibilities and duties of the position. Additional duties deemed to be within the incumbent's capabilities, on an as required basis, might be assigned by management.
- Generate 3D designs of permanent and temporary works related to the construction of surface and underground mine facilities and infrastructure
- Generate preliminary sketches, general arrangement, detailed drawings, material take-offs or other deliverables that effectively and simply illustrate components of the design, while conforming to internal engineering and design standards
- Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary design, engineering, project management and operations teams to produce "Best for Project" designs that are safe, constructible, operable and maintainable
- Complete designs within designated schedule and budget as defined within project requirements
- Check designs and drawings for function, fit-up, and compliance to internal and regulatory standards
- Develop and grow positive relationships with internal, operations and client teams
- Support the identification of deviations in job scope, estimation of changes and communication of changes to the project management team
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Proficient in Autodesk Revit
- High School Diploma
- Applicable post-secondary education such as a relevant technician or technology diploma, associate's degree, etc.
- Certificate of Completion from an authorized Autodesk Training Center (ATC) accredited program is beneficial
- Previous experience in heavy construction, mining, or industrial structures
- 0-4 years of relevant experience
Travel Requirements
- This position has the requirement for infrequent travel to project sites, offices, and/or to conduct shop reviews
- Travel period may range from one to several days and may include overseas assignments
