HEALTH AND FITNESS COORDINATOR
CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Health & Fitness Coordinator
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to perform general duties and responsibilities for overseeing health and fitness programs for the Senior Services Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Implements, develops, and teaches fitness and aquatic programs for senior patrons. Schedules Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) classes for staff, instructors, and fitness room volunteers and schedules mandatory in-service training for lifeguards. Assists managers/coordinators with budget preparations for supplies needed in fitness and aquatic areas. Prepares and submits for approval requisitions for supplies needed. Oversees lifeguards and instructors to include: preparing lifeguard monthly schedule, training of new Instructors as necessary, and assisting manager/coordinator in hiring of new lifeguards and instructors. Conducts fitness/aquatics orientation for new participants. Checks fitness room equipment and recommends necessary repairs to manager. Assists in preparing brochure for fitness and aquatic classes.Assists in preparing instructor contracts.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; college level coursework in health, fitness, recreation, or a related field; supplemented by two (2) years previous experience in the health and fitness field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must have current certification in CPR or obtain certification within one (1) year of employment. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certifications are also preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (20-50) pounds.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, textures, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, humidity, or temperature extremes.
