BACK OFFICE CLERK/CASHIER

Position Purpose

The Back Office Cashier/Clerk is a highly trusted position which exists in Sodexo Live! businesses where cash transactions are processed. Cash Room Cashier will support Sodexo Live!’s goal to be #1 in Event Hospitality by upholding standards for handling cash.

They will perform a variety of operational and accounting functions in support of internal customer service and the safe, accurate and efficient management of the unit’s cash assets. The Back Office/Cashier sort and count cash, will prepare vault drops and will post transactions to appropriate accounts.

Assist in back office duties such as, helping to answer phone calls, scheduling questions and office coverage help when/if needed.

Major Responsibility: Maximize Sodexo Live!’s revenue and operational excellence through proper execution of Sodexo Live! cash handling practices and procedures.

Supporting Actions:

  • Maintain proper security of cash assets at all times; Understands and follows cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Use manual or mechanical means to count and verify cashier drops.
  • Verify authenticity of bills, particularly those in large denominations.
  • Prepare bank deposits in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Verify, record and witness cash amounts turned in by associates who have responsibility for cash handling.
  • Operate machines such as a coin sorter, currency counter, and other equipment.
  • Complete applicable documentation accurately and according to Sodexo Live!’s policies and procedures.
  • May assist in locating, reconciling and verifying the accuracy of transactions and operate equipment with peripheral electronic data processing.

End Results: Sodexo Live!’s assets are secured and protected; Operations run smoothly; Service, revenue and profit goals are achieved; Guests receive an E3 experience.

  • Follow all Sodexo Live! uniform and grooming standards.
  • Ask questions to ensure clear and complete understanding of needs and assignments.
  • Communicate with supervisors, fellow cash room staff members and other departments, as necessary.
  • Assist fellow employees in other departments, as needed.
  • Continuously observe surroundings; Immediately report suspicious persons or activity.
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time.

Cash Room Cashier will typically be assigned to a single facility with the necessity to work in various stations or locations within that given unit. They will have minimal latitude for independent decision making. Receives a significant level of supervision with instructions given for routine work and detailed instructions given for new lines of work or special assignments.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to utilize a calculator, change counters and manually count and accurately make change for transactions involving large sums of money.
  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who typically visit the work location.
  • Strong skills for providing guest service with keen ability to connect easily with customers.

Other Requirements:
Requires lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to work in extremes of cold and heat. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Must be able to meet the following requirements with reasonable accommodatioN

  • The employee must be able to use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and carry approximately 20 feet.
  • Ability to physically walk approximately one-fourth (¼) of a mile and the circumference of the unit several times a day.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat.
  • Employee must be able to perform repetitive motions.
  • Employee must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Employee must have the ability to walk with non-skid shoes at all times.
