What are the responsibilities and job description for the Private Banking Business Development Officer position at Central Pacific Bank?
Position Function:
Responsible for identifying and acquiring new qualified Private Banking (PB) clients for the program. Works under the direction of the Private Banking Business Development Manager on a call program comprised of new leads to onboard into Private Banking.

Primary Accountabilities:
Business Development
- The primary focus is the Acquisition and Cultivation of New Qualified Private Banking Clients to the Bank for the Private Banking Program.
- Keeps up with the latest industry trends and developments; research to identify new markets and customer needs.
- Is assigned targets and goals for calls and new opportunities identified and closed for loans and deposits.
- Develops a strategy to build the Centers of Influence portfolio to increase quality referrals to Private Banking.
- Participates and supports the strategy to expand the Private Banking program into selective markets on the neighbor islands.
Internal Collaboration with Business Partners
- Regularly meets with the front-line business units (Commercial Banking, Business Banking, Commercial Real Estate Lending, Branch Banking) to collaborate in identifying new qualified clients that have an existing business relationship with the Bank. Responds to new internal referrals and keeps the partners updated on the results. Goes on joint calls with officers from other business units.
Teamwork
- Works with the Private Banking Officers to grow and develop prospecting skills to attract and gain new clients through training and role modeling.
- Supports key strategic initiatives to support and grow the Private Banking Program.
Events
- Participates to maximize attendance at Bank and Private Banking sponsored events for high value clients.
- Invitation special events (once a quarter) for clients, COIs and/or prospects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
- Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year university in Business preferred.
Experience:
- 3 years of sales experience in the financial industry (A bachelor’s degree can substitute for 2 years of work experience.)
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Must be able to perform light physical work and to move or lift items including but not limited to boxes, files and papers up to 20 pounds unless otherwise as indicated.
- Must be able to operate and proficiently use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, personal computer and/or other work related mechanical or electronic devices and applications.
- Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers. Must also be able to hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
- Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
- Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods of time. Must also be able to adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
