Centrica Care Navigators is looking for a talented Billing Specialist to join our growing team! You will be responsible for the timely and accurate filing of all Hospice Claims. Your duties will include such activities as verifying insurance benefits, preparing and submitting billing claims, coding physician visits, researching and following up on aged claims, posting deposits, data entry, maintaining control files and preparing adjustments. This position works from Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm at our Corporate Office on Stadium Drive.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Verifies insurance benefit eligibility in a timely manner for referrals.
2. Processes Medicare and Medicaid election and/or enrollment records in a timely manner.
3. Maintains and updates control files within the EMR system as they relate to billing and accounts receivable processes.
4. Prepares and submits all billing claims accurately, timely and in accordance with agency, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
5. Prepares and processes billing adjustments, cash receipts, and client refunds accurately and timely.
6. Follows up on all aged claims and responds to requests for additional information in a timely manner.
7. Communicates with supervisor regarding late or missing documents required for billing and follow up.
8. Keeps informed and current on Medicare, Medicaid, and other third party regulations and compliance issues.
9. Assists in developing and documenting billing procedures.
10. Assists in the validation of new admission record accuracy.
11. Assists clients, staff, and providers with inquiries related to accounts receivable.

Qualifications

1. High school graduate or equivalent, with two years experience in billing for a health-care field required.
2. Physician visit CPT coding experience preferred.
3. Types 50-60 wpm with a high degree of accuracy.
4. Multi-line phone and general office equipment experience required.
5. Maintains a valid Michigan driver’s license and has the availability of a reliable, licensed and insured vehicle for use on the job, vehicle must be insured in accordance with the State of Michigan.
6. Remains up-to-date on all routine immunizations required by LARA and agency policy.
