Job Summary

A welder is responsible for joining metal parts using high heat application to form a permanent bond. The welder must be able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine the appropriate welding technique and equipment to use. The welder must also be able to operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine the appropriate welding technique and equipment to use
• Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently
• Weld metal parts using high heat application to form a permanent bond
• Inspect welded joints to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
• Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries
• Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and within budget
• Ability to adjust to changes in production schedules, tasks or work processes
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a welding program or apprenticeship
• Experience in welding and metal fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications
• Knowledge of welding techniques and equipment
• Ability to operate welding equipment safely and efficiently
• Attention to detail and quality
• Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work in awkward positions
• Good communication and teamwork skills
