Zoning Officer
The Champaign County Department of Planning and Zoning seeks to fill the position of Zoning Officer. Responsibilities include review and approve all Zoning Use Permits and Special Flood Hazard Area Development Permits issued by the Department; conducts field inspections for all compliance certificates; receiving and acting on zoning and nuisance complaints including any required investigations, preparing written notices, and maintaining a status log for each complaint; provides assistance to the State’s Attorney’s Office as required to prosecute any enforcement action including field inspections, research, uploading electronic documents, providing witness testimony in any related court case, preparing Invitation to Bid for any required demolitions and/or property clean up; responds to zoning inquiries by phone and in writing.
Requires an Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in building construction, architecture, or related field plus a minimum of 3 years of work experience; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required; valid driver’s license and vehicle required; and experience with Word, Excel, and ArcGIS is desirable.
The annual salary starts at $36,036 with minimum requirements up to $54,054 DOQ and includes a competitive benefits package. The full job description can be found here.
