Job Description:
We are looking for an energetic, reliable and friendly person to join our team in our Plattsburgh, NY branch! This position will be primarily based in West Plattsburgh but will require coverage in our other Clinton County locations. Our Tellers are the face of our business – promoting our mission and providing outstanding service by performing bank transaction, opening new accounts, and building strong customer relationships.
Essential Functions:
- Travel to and from various branch locations to assist with staffing coverage is required to meet business needs.
- Adhere to all branch related policies and procedures, especially those relating to the security and protection of confidential customer information and cash handling.
- Receives deposits for, and pays withdrawals from, savings accounts of customers with proper identification and documents.
- Receives deposits for, and cashes checks from, customer checking and money market accounts, following the cash out procedure.
- Support branch operations by assisting customers with standard and non-standard teller transactions and assisting with new account opening procedures and account maintenance, as requested.
- All Branch staff are expected to always conduct themselves professionally and ethically.
- Processes requests for money orders and cashier’s checks.
- Redeems US Savings Bonds and process loan payments.
- Process Canadian foreign exchange transactions to include processing checks through Key Bank.
- Introduces new services to customers to build customer relationships.
- Maintain balancing records within the Teller Difference Policy and Procedures.
- Assist customers with questions pertaining to their relationships with the Bank.
- Assist customers by verifying balances, receiving change of address requests, or updating their CIF (Customer Information File) records or closing accounts, as requested.
- Allow customers access to safe deposit boxes, following the specified procedures.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - High School diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in business or finance is preferred.
- Prior experience in customer service role, particularly in a financial institution, is preferred.
- Must be flexible to cover various branches daily or even multiple branches during the workday often with minimal notice.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High degree of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in processing transactions and cash handling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work productively as a team player as well as independently.
- Proficient in basic computer application including MS Office. Experience in banking software preferred.
- Ability to sell and refer bank products while representing the Bank in a professional and caring manner.
- Banking Experience Preferred, however we are excited to train the right candidate!
