Our company and this position are remote, but we prefer to hire an individual in the Washington, DC, metro area since most of the team is based here, and we meet in-person regularly.
About the Role - As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial records of the company. You will ensure the accuracy of our financial data and assist in optimizing our financial processes to support the company’s growth. This position is ideal for a candidate with 5 years of accounting experience, a sharp eye for detail, and strong analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and ensuring timely completion of monthly and annual reporting.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including reviewing invoices, processing payments, and ensuring timely collections.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports to provide insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, accounting standards, and relevant regulations.
- Support the Finance VP in budgeting, forecasting, and other ad-hoc financial projects.
- Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure alignment of financial data and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a passion for accuracy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficient with Excel
Pay range and compensation package - Target Salary $65,000 – $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
