POSITION SUMMARY

The Industrial Vehicle Painter is responsible for preparing and painting a variety of Charlatte vehicle parts and frames according to specifications and quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, adhering to safety practices as well as quality expectations, and meeting deadlines as determined by the supervisor. Anticipated work schedule is Monday-Thursday, from 5:00 am-3:30pm, with overtime options.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Applies paints, surface preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to a variety of surfaces, as appropriate.
  • Apply paint to surface of the vehicle part using various type spray guns, brushes, rollers, aerosol cans or other application methods.
  • Select and mix paint to match Work Order requirements.
  • Read and work from shop drawings, work orders, BOM's, ECN notices, lists or other instructions.
  • Perform visual inspections of painted equipment, making improvements as may be necessary.
  • Inspect parts and materials for quality and accuracy. Identify quality issues of components, assemblies, prepping or painting and report them to the Quality Inspector as well as to the supervisor.
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation throughout the process.
  • Recommend process/painting changes for cost reduction and/or quality improvement.
  • Use various tools to clean grease, dirt or other foreign material from product.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in proper, clean, organized manner, following all policies, practices, and instructions.
  • Disassemble machine(s) to prepare for demasking and painting.
  • Follow required safety and quality practices. Handle hazardous materials safely – add waste to containers, transfer waste to accumulation bins and label containers.
  • Properly erect various types of scaffolding, staging, ladders, and planks to reach surfaces of work area for painters and others.
  • Properly operate and maintain paint tools and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet or exceed production goals and deadlines.
  • Participate in safety training and programs. Follow required safety protocols and quality practices at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Examples include participate in training, attend meetings, and assist with performing special projects. This position may be required to work overtime on occasion and backfill for other positions at the discretion of management, generally during employee absences or vacant positions.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 1 year of automotive or industrial equipment painting experience; significant automotive or industrial painting experience preferred.
  • Experience using spray guns, rollers, and other paint application methods.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Desire and ability to work in fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule as needed.
  • Proven ability to work independently without constant supervision, and effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work situations.
  • Strong quality orientation and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed instructions, blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and meet the physical demands of the position, including being able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Preferred: 2-year technical degree in related field; professional paint certifications/training; familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and application.

Physical Demands: The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand (for long periods of time on concrete floor), talk or hear, and to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, controls or material handling machinery; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical work walking over rough or uneven surfaces, stretching, bending, and pushing, moving, lifting and carrying loads weighing up to 50 pounds. Tasks require physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive motions.

Work Environment: The employee generally works indoors, yet may be occasionally exposed to outdoor, seasonally temperate and humid conditions. The work environment noise level is moderate while at the production line work site.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $28.35 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
